  • 1 Dr. Parden is licensed in the state of Louisiana. State licensing rules require that both the patient and physician be in the state of licensure in order to have a virtual visit. Coaching is available across state lines if you do not require or desire psychiatric treatment, but would love to work with Dr. Parden to achieve your highest goals.

Additional Psychotherapy

Many patients have both a psychiatrist and a psychotherapist.  As a psychiatrist the role may often be primarily to prescribe medication, however, Dr. Parden does have a robust psychotherapy practice and often provides this service as well.  Whether or not you have both is up to you.

Dr. Parden is now offering Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) for those who may benefit from the treatment.  This is a therapeutic approach that combines the use of ketamine, a dissociative medicine, with psychotherapy in order to help facilitate introspection under an altered state of consciousness so that one is able to access the often blocked emotions and memories that can prolong or limit traditional psychotherapy. Ketamine is administered in the office, safely and under controlled and monitored conditions.  Ketamine is able to provide acute and long term relief and healing when combined with psychotherapy due to the patient's deepened insights, improved self awareness, and impactful emotional processing.

The cost of KAP varies, but can be anywhere from $440 up to $580 per session.  Sessions are typically around 2-2.5 hour of time spent with the doctor.  We do not accept insurance for the office visit/ psychotherapy treatment session.  The cost of the medication itself may be covered by insurance or is anywhere from $10-$70 per session, depending on the dose and formulation.  We do not administer IV ketamine in our office.  Please inquire with our office if you are interested in more information about this treatment.

FAQs

As an “MD” or medical doctor, Dr. Parden is a physician who provides psychiatric care that is often seen as related to medication management. However, she also has a unique style in that she integrates more psychoeducation and psychotherapy into her work with individuals.  As such, the integration of medicine, brain and body functioning, other medications or medical issues is all taken into account in the unique therapeutic experience she provides.

Yes, in fact, most of our shared clients have given us the feedback that the value of the collaborative model we base our treatment on is something that cannot be found elsewhere.  We have similar styles of therapeutic practice with a little different of an attitude about how it is implemented, which often advances the time to benefit and the quality of the therapeutic experience. It also allows for more affordability with staggered appointments between both clinicians.

Psychoeducation is information that is provided in a therapeutic manner to help a person understand different facets of their behaviors, emotions, and perception. It often includes facilitating self-awareness and insight regarding strategies that can help them learn to overcome the challenges in mental well-being.

Group therapy is the treatment and therapeutic processing of a small group of people at once rather than 1 on 1 treatment. It has a strong evidence base for being highly effective in the treatment of many mental health challenges. It can help the therapist facilitate a better understanding of relationships with yourself and others. It also promotes socialization, teaching individuals new social skills, and can foster healthy attachments. Although confiding in others you may not know could seem uncomfortable, often you are in the group with others with similar situations and realizing you are not alone can be therapeutic. Group therapy facilitates both giving and receiving support. It can help to improve relational experiences with peers and is useful to learn healthier ways of communicating. With the guidance of the therapist, this provides more than just a "support group" and allows for advancement in healing. Often, there is a theme for the therapy and the goals are set along with the therapist.

Mental Health Workshops are facilitated by mental health professionals and often hours up to days of psychoeducation, learning materials, skills practice and teambuilding with participants that fit within a similar demographic, community, or group. They are focused on skill building to help the participants with self care, resilience, crisis management, stress related anxiety, and/ or other specific issues the group may be facing. It does not provide mental health treatment, however, does facilitate the basic skills to mitigate some psychological challenges that could develop into mental illness if not addressed and may help participants to recognize signs that they do require treatment.

This practice is strictly a private pay practice and we do not accept insurance. There are several reasons why we have made this decision.

  1. Not everyone who seeks our services meets the criteria for a mental health diagnosis, but this is required for services to be “medically necessary” to bill insurance. This means you must accept being assigned a diagnosis to receive benefits.
  2. From a privacy standpoint, your records may also be
requested as part of an insurance audit which deters many from seeking care. Your privacy is our priority.
  3. From a care perspective, some insurance contracts determine the length and focus of counseling sessions. You deserve to have the care you need, and we look forward to collaboratively discussing this with you.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Please let us know if you have any questions concerning this matter.
